This actually IS a legit OEM HP charger!Aug 08, 2009
By Edwin Corcoran IV
This charger is a great replacement for my old broken charger. I was a little skeptical when I purchaced this seeing that OEM chargers usually cost around 80 bucks so the cheaper listings will say that it is "OEM" and then when you finally get it in the mail you're usually badly surprised when you recieve an off brand charger that doesn't work. First, make sure that your original computer charger matches the serial number named on the product description or this charger will not work! Because someone made that mistake before, this product recieved a non-deserved one star rating. This actually IS a OEM charger! I was shocked! (in a good way). The only slightly negative thing I can say about this charger is that the cord supplied that connects from the wall to the power brick is about half the length of the original charger. Since I was having a problem with the connector that goes into my computer with my old charger, this problem was fixed easily by using the old original longer cord and connected that to the new brick. The cord that comes out of the brick on the new charger is longer than the original, however, so doing this made the overall length even longer! If you were to use only the new cables the charger is still 9 feet long but I just like to move around a lot! Trust me! if the numbers match buy this cable! you will not be dissapointed! It WILL work and now I dont have to jiggle the cord every 30 seconds to make sure the computer is charging! A+++

Real HP charger, but does not exactly fit as promisedDec 11, 2009
I found this charger after the cord on my original laptop charger stared pulling out at the brick from constantly folding it up to stuff in a bag/ transport with me. I purchased it primarily because of the price and the positive reviews saying it was actually a real HP OEM charger. The shipping was fast and I have no complaints with the seller; however, while this product is explicitly listed as being a recommended replacement for my laptop, it is not the same as my original charger and I have had some problems with it. As other posters mention, there are three issues:
1) The power brick gets MUCH hotter than my original charger, even when just sitting on a hard surface, and the battery is at full power but is just running off of AC (old charger was practically cool when not directly charging the battery). We'll see if this reduces the life of the charger or not.
2) The plug into the computer charging port is not the same size as the original. It is close, but just a little bit too small and therefore has a flaky connection. I've figured that as long as I keep the cord held a certain way it stays connected, which is why I won't send this back, but it's definitely an annoying problem.
3) The cord from the outlet to the brick is definitely shorter than my original charger. Not a big deal, but sometimes annoying when I need the longer cord.
Other than that, it does what it is intended to do-- deliver power to keep my computer running and happy. Good enough by me, considering the price and how difficult it is to find something that isn't a total knockoff!

Worked and really was HPNov 20, 2009
I bought this for my HP Pavilion DV9000 laptop, my original power supply broke at the connecter that goes into the laptop.
This adapter that I bought really is from HP, and the plug did fit snuggly into my laptop. The rated voltage and current of this adapter is identical to that of the original.
This isn't exactly the same as the original though. The power supply brick is a different size and this one is far less efficient than the original. I can tell because this one gets HOT when the laptop is on and charging the battery (max power). It is so hot, its just short of being uncomfortable to touch, that means a lot of power is being wasted in the conversion process. Heat also means the components inside it will not last as long (heat shortens the lifespan of electronics). I am being careful with this one to keep the power supply brick away from anything else and out in the open.
Compared to buying from HP direct I could buy 3 of these, so even if it fails and I have to buy another, I'll still be ahead. My only concern is the common problem of computers where these things go obsolete and become harder and harder to find.
Overall I give this product 3 stars. 3 stars is not bad. 1 star is bad, 2 is below average, 3 is average, 4 is above average, and 5 is perfect. I would consider this to be an average prodcut and why I gave it 3 stars.

fast deliveryApr 14, 2009
By A. Simpson
This was exactly what I needed for my laptop. I looked on Best Buy's website and it was $80.00. I got it for WAY less than that through amazon/power adapter world. I got it delivered pretty quickly. I ordered on a Sunday and I think I had it by Wednesday.

Lousy tipJan 15, 2009
By Linda Ann Lindsey
I purchased this for my HP DV6000. The tip fits so loosely in the power port that it doesn't make enough connection to work at all, even if you jiggle, tape, push, or pull on it. Might work for other laptop models, but not mine.
